Long time subscribers of The Handbook of Private Schools may notice that the 88^th annual edition doesn’t quite fit in with the previous 87 on their shelves. We’ve grown! The Handbook’s page size is now 33% larger.

One doesn’t mess lightly with nine decades of tradition. The small form-factor of the original Handbook of Private Schools was designed for portability, for parents and educators spending weeks in the family car, visiting school after school.

There are now so many more ways of measuring excellence, so much more information families and placement professionals ought to know about schools and programs. With so much more data packed into each listing, we knew it was time for a change. Schools and heavy users of the Handbooks were consulted, and the new size was carefully designed to optimize space for more data in each listing; a larger, more readable type size; and enhanced indexing.

We are proud of the result, and hope you will find it as useful as we do. And as always, we welcome your feedback.
