Mrs. Eva Edwards Lovett founded this school and remained head until 1954. During the next eight years, the school expanded to include a kindergarten and 12 grades. Since 1963, Lovett has been an independent school governed by a board of trustees.

Bordered by the Chattahoochee River, this college preparatory school is located on 100 wooded acres in northwest Atlanta. In addition to a selection of honors and Advanced Placement courses, Lovett’s curriculum includes a varied fine arts program. Students in need of additional help receive one-on-one or small-group instruction through the academic resource center. The school is concerned with the development of all aspects of the child and seeks to assist students in developing positive self-concepts.

Lovett schedules field trips and provides travel opportunities during spring and summer breaks to such locations as China, South Africa, France and Italy. Siempre Verde, the school’s research station in Ecuador, specializes in the study of cloud forest ecology; groups of students visit Siempre Verde during the school year and over the summer.
